Smoker’s lines, also known as "lipstick lines" or "peri-oral lines", are the vertical lines that form on and around the upper lip. Although they are more common and appear earlier in smokers, they can also develop in non-smokers.
Contributory factors in formation of smoker’s lines include age, genetics, and unhealthy life style. They typically appear earlier in people who smoke.
At Clapham Skin Clinic, our first line treatment for smoker’s lines is injection of low viscosity dermal fillers such as Juvederm® Volbella and Juvederm® Ultra2. The procedure is performed using a cannula. Occasionally a small dose of Botox® is also injected to achieve optimum results.
These include bruising and rarely there is a possibility of lump formation.
The procedure is performed by Dr Baba, a highly trained and experienced aesthetic doctor who is also a senior trainer for this procedure at London Aesthetic Academy (www.londonaestheticacademy.co.uk)
