Restylane® is a range of hyaluronic acid-based products consisting of three product types: Restylane® fillers, Restylane® skin boosters and Restylane® skincare. Restylane® fillers are injectable gels used for smoothing out wrinkles and lines or increasing volume in the lips or face. Restylane® skin boosters are also injectables that are used to revitalise and improve the quality of the skin.
Products from the range can safely be combined to achieve the desired results.
Restylane® products offer non-permanent but long-lasting results. Individual factors such as client age, skin type, life style and muscle activity can all influence how long treatment effects will last before being safely eliminated by the body. A touch-up treatment within 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to ensure the desired results have been achieved. Typically, clients require follow-up treatment six to twelve months after an initial treatment for wrinkles or facial contouring. After lip treatments, a top-up treatment may be required within 3 -6 months.
Common side effects include swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve within a few days following treatment (and within a week for lip augmentation).
More serious reactions following treatment with Restylane products are very rare (1 in 2000). localized reactions due to hypersensitivity can consist of swelling at the injection site and surrounding tissue. Redness, tenderness, and nodule formations have also been reported. These reactions can be evident within a few days following treatment or a delay of two to four weeks.
