This skin care routine uses professional-grade lightening ingredients to inhibit melanin production, the substance responsible for controlling pigment in the skin. With regular use of this comprehensive skin care system, brighter, smoother and more youthful-looking complexion can be achieved.
Many components of the system are prescription only products and require supervision by a qualified practitioner who has specialised training and experience in the use of the Obagi products.
There are three distinct stages associated with the use of the Obagi Nu-Derm system: Repair stage, Improvement stage, and Final stage. Throughout the use of this skincare program sun protection is essential.
Repair Stage
Penetration below the surface of the skin to correct signs of aging and acne flares. The top layer of the skin is exfoliated, removing dull, old skin cells to help promote new skin cell development. It is normal to experience itching, dryness, and redness that should subside by the end of phase 2 when a more even-toned appearance to the skin will become apparent.
Improvement Stage – after 6 weeks of cream use
At this stage the skin has started adapting to the system and reaction to the products as experienced in stage 1 is less evident. Skin is smoother, softer, and becoming more evenly toned.
Final Stage
At this stage, skin is renewed, and the results of the system are fully evident. The time taken for each individual to achieve optimal results with the system varies depending on their pre-existing skin condition. After treatment is complete the prescribing practitioner will recommend a suitable maintenance program.
The following are the components of the system:
A. To prepare the skin: Foaming Gel or Gentle Cleanser (No 1) depending on normal, dry or oily skin Toner (No 2)
B. To improve the skin: Clear (No 3) Exfoderm® Forte or Exfoderm® (No 4) depending on the normal, dry or oily skin
C. To stimulate the development of healthy skin: Clear, Blender and Tretinoin
D. To protect the skin: Moisturiser Hydrate and Sun Protection SPF 50 and Sunfader®
