Both the jawline and chin play pivotal role in the appearance of our face. With ageing, jawline becomes saggy due to soft tissues volume loss in the mid face and shrinking and receding of the jaw bone. The chin also has a role in bringing balance and support to the face. A well contoured jawline and chin are features of a youthful and attractive lower face.
At Clapham Skin Clinic, we use dermal fillers for chin and jaw contouring. Dermal fillers are injected into the chin and mid face, acting as a three-dimensional lattice, supporting and lifting the jawline and correcting any minor deformities in the jowl. This results in a contoured and youthful looking jaw and chin. This treatment is also suitable for younger clients who would like a more defined and sharper jawline and chin.
For chin and jaw contouring, we use relatively thicker, higher-molecular-weight dermal fillers, such as Restylane® LYFT, Juvederm® Voluma, Juvederm Volux® and Radiesse®. For most clients this treatment results in a significant improvement in the appearance of the chin and the improvement lasts for approximately one year. Severe cases of receding chin usually require surgical correction.
